Why the 5P Framework?
The traditional “People, Process, Technology” approach to business transformation was missing two critical bookends: a clearly defined, measurable Purpose at the beginning and Performance measurement at the end.
Trust Insights CEO Katie Robbert built the 5P Framework by Trust Insights™ to fix this gap. In her experience leading digital transformations, the technology was rarely the problem — the problem was the approach. Organizations would buy the tool first, then try to cram their staff into rigid new workflows without ever defining what success looked like or why they were doing it in the first place.
The 5P Framework by Trust Insights™ puts that in order. You start with Purpose — the specific, measurable question you’re trying to answer. Then you identify the People involved, define a repeatable Process, select the right Platform, and measure Performance against your original purpose. Every project gets direction and accountability from day one.
The order is intentional — but flexible. Purpose always comes first and Performance always comes last, but People, Process, and Platform can be defined in parallel depending on your situation. What matters is that each P has a clear set of definitions before you move forward.
How to Apply the Framework
Three steps to better decisions, faster.
Define Your Purpose
Frame the problem as a measurable question. If you can’t measure it, it’s not defined well enough. A good purpose statement sounds like: “What is the impact of our email marketing on revenue?” not “Improve our email.”
Walk Through Each P
Identify the People involved — internal and external. Document the Process so it’s repeatable and scalable. Then select the Platform. Always in that order, unless your situation requires a parallel approach.
Measure Performance
Tie your metrics directly back to your stated Purpose. If your metrics don’t answer the original question, revisit. Performance is not a vanity dashboard — it’s proof that you solved the problem you set out to solve.
